Construction Law Falls Under Federal, State and Local Law
Video Transcribed: Tulsa Construction Attorney Brian Carter here with a tulsaconstructionlawyer.com and today I’m going to talk a little bit about what is construction law. Construction law falls under federal, state and local law.
At the federal level, there’s everything from workplace safety regulations such as OSHA, employment law in environmental law, prequalification requirements. At the state level, there you will find most of the same things, but there can also be some specific licensing requirements for certain trades as there are here in Oklahoma, which I will address in a later video.
And at the local level, you’re going to have your zoning ordinances and your codes and business licensing requirements. And these could range from anything from work hours to construction noise, traffic flow, to name a few.
Also, primarily, construction law is contract law and there will be a lot more to come in later videos regarding specific contract issues. And with contract law, we also have tort law, which primarily focuses on negligence or intentional acts, primarily negligence. And all of these things can arise from some of the same actions and be controlled by some of the same laws.
So it can get very complicated very quickly and we here at tulsaconstructionlawyer.com, we can help you navigate this if you have a problem or have a question. And again, I will be following up with other videos regarding construction law with regard to contracts and torts, negligence and some other regulatory things under state, federal and local law.
